The Red Rock Thermal Motel is a handy 5 min walk from Rotorua City Centre.

Rotorua itself is only a 3 hour drive from Auckland and it's location is such that it's the ideal stopover point for travellers who wish to explore the Bay of Plenty on their travels.

Te Puke (NZ's Kiwi Fruit capitol), Tauranga & Mount Maunganui (with it's many beaches), Tirau and the wonders of Lake Taupo are all within an hours easy drive from the city and the attractions in and around Rotoru itself are a reason to visit in their own right.

Rotorua is also well served by the Intercity Coach services, with drop-offs at the Information Centre in the City. A Taxi ride to the motel is approximately $5 or it is a 10 min walk. We also offer a free pick-up service within Rotorua.

If you are travelling from Auckland via Hamilton, you'll be approaching the City along Fairy Springs Road. Just after you pass Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), there will be a large light controlled junction. You want to turn left here on to Lake road. You'll pass over a railway bridge 150m after the lights. Keep driving straight on. 150m after the bridge, keep an eye out for our sign on the left hand side driving into town. We're located just before the smaller bridge that passes over the Utuhina Stream. You'll want to turn left onto Whittaker Road where you'll find the entrace to our on-site parking.

If you are driving from the South via the City, find your way to Lake Road where you'll pass the Kuirau Park on your left-hand side. You can't miss it, it is geothermally very active! 100m past the park, you'll drive over the small Utuhina Stream Bridge and there will be an immediate turning on your right hand side (Whittaker Road). The entrance to our off-street parking is on this road.
